This website is an e-Sword module library website, with modules for the free Bible program e-Sword (http://www.e-sword.net).
Please note that as a Pastor and Missionary, I do not recommend e-Sword any more, nor do I really use it at all, (except to make modules for this website). I have decided to continue making e-Sword modules because some of the websites that I have permission to use their copyrighted works was given to me, but not given to others who have since asked. Therefore if I don’t make the modules of these works, nobody can legally do so.
This causes me some extra work and hardship, but as such, that is okay.
Please donate something every couple of months using the Paypal donate button on the side bar. Constant donations, even small ones, keep me encouraged to continue investing my time and energy in this website. If you don’t care, I probably will drop off making modules also.

Dear Mr. Cox:
I have had E Sword on my computer for years and have found it to be very helpful. Thank you for your labor of love in creating this tool. I recently got a new computer tower, and lost the old version of E Sword. Therefore, the version I recently downloaded was new. I am not doing very well with the new version / don’t like it, and wonder if there is still an older version of it available for downloading?

e-Sword is outdated. You need to update it to the new program. Go to http://www.theWord.net and download the new version of theword. This is the better program. There is a converter utility there also to convert your modules to theWord format.
In all Christian love, i wonder why you maintain this site at all. You don’t like E-Sword, don’t use it, and don’t recommend it. I personally do like it, and would easely recommend it. I have used the Word software, and I find it combersome, and not that easy to navigate. But my main thought is that you continually ask for donations , sometimes in a rather intimidating fashion, i.e. if you don,t care to donatr i won,t care to keep this site open and quit making modules. Yet there hasn’t been any new modules here for quite sometime. If your passion is for The Word..just do modules for the Word program. The you will not have to worry about begging for money to support E-Sword modules, especially since this site only has negative remarks abot E-Sword. Only do The Word. BUT ther are many many any more modules for E-Sword then for the Word.
This is not meant unlovingly. But if it is a great expence and you and your family are busy with the work of the Lord, lighten your load and expences and drop this site. But sincerely, there are ones like me on a fixed income who give to their Church, and some also give to sites where there are 1000;s of free downloads, Jesus does not and woould not beg for money and turn around and do nothing, and put something down but yet want to support his complaining Spirit! Which I think you have.
If you don;t like E-Sword, don’t use it..don;t ask for money to keep a site open that doesn’t have anything NEW to offer. All that is offered here is somewhere else and much more.

As just a thought, if you don’t like my site, why do you come to it? I cannot understand why you come to my site to complain, so we are pretty much even as far as not understanding each other.
Concerning why and how I run my site, it is under my own discretion, and there are reasons why I do what I do. For example, I have permission from some websites to make their works into modules. Other people in the e-Sword arena have asked the same website owners and cannot get permission. For this reason I have gotten back into the e-Sword community, as ungrateful as some of its members are. They do not appreciate anything I do (I guess because their program is poor and it makes them grumpy), and they dislike my presentation of theWord as being better than e-Sword. You can have your program if you like it, butwhy is it a problem that I use my website to promote what I think is best? I have a number of websites (about 24) and I promote theWord on all of them. If you want to use e-Sword that is fine, wse it, and I also have modules for e-Sword. If you find my site unpleasing, then please, by all means, do not visit it. The point is that some of my modules that I put up quite frankly are not legally on any other websites. I write my own books in both spanish and english, and I don’t want them on any website but my own. People illegally take my works from theWord and are making them into e-Sword modules. My esword site is so that I can control this, and try to prevent or hinder people from changing the content of my modules, and making it into e-Sword and reposting them all over.
This website is not in competition with other e-swprd websites. I don’t want to upload thousands of modules here. Go to the rest if you want thousands. What I am uploading here are more unique modules (some are written by me, others are only legally on this website) that people won’t get legally from other websites.
Yes I do ask for donations. To have a website and to keep it stable and up costs money. I had at one time asked for donations because without donations, I felt I should close this one down. I have stopped asking and continue with it. I do still have a Paypal donations button. The reason is because I also have works that I am writing myself, and I will put them up here instead of letting these other websites illegally publish my own works.
You noticed that I have not put up anything here for over a month. I am a missionary and traveling in the US for the last 3 weeks. How perceptive! I am traveling and I also have not had any donations from this website for about 3 months, so I am following exactly what I have said I would do. When people donate via this esword website, then I will make a special effort to make and post esword modules, otherwise I will just stay working in MySword and theWord. I do not see ANYTHING wrong with this plan. I would suppose that you are complaining because there are not a lot of modules here (what you want), and I note that you have not donated either. If you are on a fixed income and don’t like the pace I ama working at here, then try BibleSupport.com and don’t come here. They take my theWord modules and make them into e-Sword. But there will be things here that they cannot legally put up (whether they do or not is another matter).
I would really prefer you NOT to download ANYTHING FROM MY SITE if you feel so critical about my site, and really not even visit my website. Unfortunately, e-Sword users seem to be difficult people. I have found them very unreasonable for people receiving the labors of others for free. But I understand that. I don’t know why they are like that, but that was my experience the whole time I was working with e-Sword. I did a tremendously amount as far as personal sacrifice, time invested, and the learning curve that I went through to make modules when NOBODY was producing modules for e-Sword. Being the single person outside of Rick Meyers that popularized and provided resources for e-Sword for a good many years apparently means nothing to most e-Sword users. None of that matters anything and I am cast aside as a useless old shoe, that people cannot forget about, but also are kicking at me also.
But the point is, this site is mine, and my time and energy and how I invest them is my business. If you don’t like the way I run this site, go make your own. I say that in love. You people need to understand some things. First of all, don’t criticize free things that are laborious to make and maintain, when you give nothing or very little to sustain it. Secondly, take what is free, and bless God for it, that somebody is sacrificing for your benefit. Don’t get greedy and complain for more. You want more, then either make some things yourself (and I would be glad to upload and host them on my website) or give something to help out. You should leave things there, and don’t expect busy people to stop their life just to help you. That is not your right. Many times people will do that, and I have done that in the past and regularly. I still answer questions (help desk type questions on e-Sword even though I don’t personally use it). And I never charge for these modules, and maybe I should. But I don’t. As such whether I make modules for e-Sword and post them or not, that is my business. If you have to endure “commercials” about theWord here in order to download e-Sword modules, then think of it as what I “charge”. Little really for the fruit of my labors.
I was one of the first e-Sword modules makers (besides Rick Meyers himself), and back in the beginning, few sites had what I had, and very, very few have been around as long as I have (most disappear after 1 year or so). I know you will despise me for saying that, because anything negative against e-Sword is wrong to you (even if it is true). I honestly evaluate e-Sword and compare it with a better progam, and having been around in e-Sword for so long, SOME OLD ESWORD users actually appreciate my opinions and views and change to the better and more powerful program. For every comment like yours, I get 4 comments thanking me for these comparisons because it prompted them to try theWord and many many people actually like theWord better.
Use whatever you want. If you come to my site you can expect to see these comparisions with theWord as well as buttons and whatnot for donating. That is part of life. Get used to it, or don’t come to visit. NOBODY HAS TO DONATE TO ME. Any donation is voluntary. Nothing is “kept from you” because you didn’t donate. So I am sorry if you feel pressured to donate. I don’t make those kinds of announcements anymore. Perhaps (and most probably were) they were in bad taste to do from the beginning. For that I apologize. I would note that Rick Meyers puts a donate button on his website, and I doubt you have written to Rick complaining about that have you? But I do not see opinions of users as being valid for me to quit making modules and/or maintaining the website. I have my reasons for what I do, and I don’t have to give account to users. In the end analysis, my theWord website and donations there pay for your e-Sword website here. That does not seem fair to me, but that is what is actually happening. So get a free ride, just don’t complain to me about it please. I try to do the best I can, and e-Sword is not my first nor second priority, (you discerned that correctly). My church, my family, my ministry, and my financial supporters all come in above any of these websites, and as far as websites, my theWord stuff comes in first, MySword second, and some other of my websites after that, and long down on the list, e-Sword. I do post modules in e-Sword, so it is not “off the list”, but I am not going to post 7 modules in e-Sword every day like I have done for theWord.
You choose your community you wish to be in by the program you choose to use. My constant daily uploading of modules is for theWord, and that is yet another benefit of theWord over e-Sword.
I do not mean to be mean, but these are the realities of life as I see them.

I didn’t mean to offend you, which I can discern that I did and I am genuinely sorry. You are right about what you say about taking free without appreciation. I visit your site for module that i cannot get elsewhere, My point was that if it is hindering your real important work, that as a missionary then perhaps you should lighten your load. I remember you when you did E-Sword modules. In fact before E-Sword went to 9 then 10 i had many of your modules. I guess i came off wrong. I am just used to E-Sword, but it is not my total preference as I use Word Search, and Bible Works because I do extensive word studies in the Greek. So in conclusion please forgive me if the was offense taken, you are my brother in Christ and i will continue to come here to check for modules i can use. I have never dealt with Rick, but I have heard…well agian my deepest apology for any thing i may have said out of line or unchristian, it was not my intentions.

Hi Rick, I am not offended. There are people who promote other e-Sword websites that want me to close down my esword website. They post some pretty strong comments about the uselessness of my labors. Most of their posts I don’t approve and nobody sees them, but I let some through. I didn’t mean to be mean or sarcastic, but it gets a little stressful when people don’t appreciate what you do. I know I am not putting forth a full out effort to post a lot of things in e-Sword, but life is limited, and my time and energy is even more limited. I have 24 websites that I post things to, and many don’t get much attention. I am trying to get to everything, and that is not happening like I would wish. I used to stay up to 1AM and get up again around 5 or 6, but health concerns now limit me to going to bed at a decent hour, and not getting up so early. Pray for me and my time and my efforts to provide things for the Lord’s people. David
