Thomas Goodwin, known as ‘the Elder’, was an English Puritan theologian and preacher, and an important leader of religious Independents. Thomas Goodwin served as chaplain to Oliver Cromwell, and was imposed by Parliament as President of Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1650.
